The Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation has announced grants totaling more than $1.5 million to fourteen research projects worldwide.
The grants — awarded to researchers in Stockholm, Sweden, Canada, and the United States — will fund research ranging from basic laboratory work to clinical application in patients. Projects funded in this grant cycle include research by Dr. Abdeljabbar El Manira of Stockholm's Karolinska Institute using zebra fish as a model to understand how nerve cells repair themselves after injury.
