Setting Up and Maintaining a Charity in the United Kingdom
Chapel & York offers organizations outside the United Kingdom a service to set up a registered charity that will be able to facilitate fundraising from individuals, companies and trusts and reclaim tax on donations under Gift Aid.
Chapel & York offers this at the fixed price of comprehensive of £5,000 (+ VAT where applicable). £3,000 (plus VAT) is due upon acceptable of our Terms & Conditions and the balance is due when the Charity Commission awards Registered Charity status. There is an unlimited helpline available throughout the process to answer all your questions.
Chapel & York are happy to discuss ways in which these payments can be made by instalments.
Legal services provided in connection with this service are supplied by a well-known firm of London solicitors are included in the set-up fee.
Chapel and York can also provide an annual service, undertaking everything necessary to maintain a Registered Charity in the UK.
- Technical and Financial
- Make Gift Aid Returns to HMR&C to recover tax.
- Coordinate annual accounts and providing financial and narrative information to accountant/auditor
- File statutory Annual Returns as required by Charity Commission and Companies House.
- Ensure Annual General Meeting takes place and actions are appropriately documented.
- Ensure other Meetings occur or Resolutions are passed to document grants or other activities and actions are appropriately noted.
Administrative/Secretarial
- Provide an address in the UK for receipt of donations.
- Handle receipt, banking and acknowledgement of donations.
- Open bank and brokerage accounts with agreed suppliers.
- Maintain a database of donors and donations.
- Provide reports on activities undertaken as agreed- .
- The above maintenance service costs £1,750 + VAT [where applicable] per annum.
(Not included in the Chapel & York Service is accountant/auditor’s fee).
Advice
- Provide an unlimited helpline to answer questions relating to the operation of the UK registered charity- Chapel & York can also provide additional support such as printing and mailing fundraising materials and providing Event administration services at an agreed price separate from the maintenance service.
